COP29 president, German Uniper drive global energy resilience at Munich summit PHOTO
The President of COP29, Mukhtar Babayev, engaged in a crucial discussion with representatives of the German energy company Uniper on the resilience of global energy systems at the Munich Security Conference.
The meeting, which focused on ensuring a sustainable and secure energy future, was held as part of the Munich Security Conference, Caliber.Az reports referring to the official statement by COP29 on X.
"COP29 President joined Uniper at the Munich Security Conference to discuss resilience in global energy systems and how to take forward the COP29 outcomes and deliver a just and orderly transition. He highlighted Azerbaijan’s commitment to upholding energy security, improving sustainability, and deepening partnerships with Germany," the message reads.
Thus, the Munich Security Conference commenced on February 14, and is set to conclude on February 16. The agenda includes pressing global issues such as governance, democratic resilience, climate security, regional conflicts, and the future of transatlantic relations. The evolving role of Europe on the international stage is also a major focus of discussions.
Beyond the main sessions, around 200 side events and public outreach activities are planned, reflecting the wide-ranging nature of the conference. The Conference will conclude with a leadership transition, as Jens Stoltenberg takes over as Chair, succeeding Christoph Heusgen.
