Copenhagen sends $970 million in military aid to Ukraine for 2025-2027

03 April 2025 17:56

Denmark will provide Ukraine with its twenty-fifth aid package worth 6.7 billion kroner ($970 million) for the period 2025-2027, according to the Kingdom's Ministry of Defense.

The ministry said in a press release that the money will be used to purchase air defense systems, artillery, and to support the Ukrainian Air Force, Caliber.Az reports.

"With the 25th donation package, we emphasize our support for Ukraine in both the short and long term," Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen was quoted as saying in the press release.

Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen expressed hope that Denmark's aid "will inspire other allies to provide even greater support," since "Ukraine's security is crucial for the future of all of Europe."

Denmark has been one of Ukraine’s staunchest supporters since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022. The Danish government has provided significant military, financial, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, aligning itself closely with NATO and EU efforts to counter Russian aggression.

Denmark has supplied Ukraine with modern weaponry, ammunition, and military training. This includes donations of Leopard 1 tanks, Caesar howitzers, F-16 fighter jets, and air defense systems. Denmark also played a key role in the international coalition to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16s and committed to transferring these aircraft to Ukraine. Additionally, the Danish military has been involved in training Ukrainian soldiers in cooperation with the UK-led training initiative.

Denmark has allocated billions of Danish kroner to support Ukraine through direct financial aid and humanitarian relief. This includes funding for rebuilding infrastructure, medical assistance, and support for Ukrainian refugees in Denmark. The Danish government has also worked closely with private companies and NGOs to provide food, shelter, and medical supplies.
