Defence Turk unveils difference between Bayraktar TB3, TB2 PHOTO
Turkish Defence Industry Agency Head Ismail Demir has made statements about defence industry projects and has announced that the new Bayraktar TB3 will appear this year.
“Some changes should be made in TB3 production compared to TB2. We will see TB3 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) this year. Integration and flight tests will begin,” Demir said, Caliber.Az cites Defence Turk as saying on Twitter.
The Bayraktar TB3 UCAV is an armed unmanned aerial vehicle system, currently being developed indigenously by Baykar and capable of takeoff and landing on short runway aircraft carriers. Besides reconnaissance/surveillance and intelligence missions, the Bayraktar TB3 UCAV can launch an assault operation with smart munitions stationed under its wings.
The Bayraktar TB3 can conduct armed operations overseas due in part to custom capabilities, like foldable wings that enable use on aircraft carriers.
The Bayraktar TB3 can be operated from very remote distances thanks to its Line-Of-Sight and Beyond-Line-Of-Sight communications capabilities.
Basic Flight Performance Criteria:
14 metres wingspan
8.35 metres length
2.6 metres height
1,450 kg maximum take-off weight
125 knots-160 knots cruise speed – maximum speed
280 kg payload capacity:
24+ hours endurance
Advanced Features:
Take-off and landing capability from short-runway aircraft carriers
LOS and BLOS
Fully autonomous take-off and landing
Bayraktar TB3 will make its first flight soon and there will be 30-40 UCAVs at TCG ANADOLU amphibious assault ship by late 2023.
Taking into account the integration of the command centre into TCG ANADOLU, at least 10 Bayraktar TB3s can be used simultaneously in operations.
TB3 UAV, capable of taking off from landing ships and flying for more than 24 hours, can be considered a new alternative to ships of this class because it can be involved in reconnaissance, target designation and close air support during amphibious operations.
