Diesel locomotive derails in Georgia killing Azerbaijani railman
The Azerbaijan Railways company has disseminated information on the incident that occurred on the Marabda-Kartsakhi railway section of Georgia.
An employee of Azerbaijan Railways’ Georgian branch, assistant driver Ruslan Sadigov died because of an accident during restoration works on the Trialeti-Tskalka steep section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway running through Georgia, the company told APA.
On May 26 evening, during restoration work in Georgia’s Tsalka region, a technical train derailed, killing one man and injuring three others. In connection with the matter, the Georgian Interior Ministry opened an investigation under an article on railway transport safety violations.
Georgian Railways specified that the repair work was carried out by an Azerbaijani company. The dead and injured are citizens of Azerbaijan.
