Dozens injured in passenger bus overturn in eastern Türkiye
A serious road accident occurred near the city of Van in eastern Türkiye, where a passenger bus overturned, leaving approximately 28 people injured.
The crash took place on the Van–Bitlis highway, in the vicinity of Akdamar Island, a popular tourist area on Lake Van, Caliber.Az reports, referring to Turkish media.
Emergency responders, including ambulances, gendarmerie units, and firefighters, were promptly dispatched to the site.
Authorities report that all injured individuals received first aid at the scene before being transported to nearby hospitals for further medical care. The extent of their injuries has not yet been officially disclosed.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
This latest incident follows a separate bus crash on April 29 in the Manavgat district of Antalya, where at least 18 Russian tourists were injured after the driver of a tour bus reportedly lost control. The vehicle overturned in a greenhouse area while en route to a hotel, with the accident occurring at approximately 08:00 local time. The injured tourists were also taken to local hospitals for treatment.
These back-to-back incidents have raised concerns about road safety conditions and bus transportation standards in Türkiye, particularly in areas with high tourist traffic.
