EDB: Russia invests $4.7 billion in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan is currently working on 41 projects across the Eurasian region, Alexander Zaboev, head of the Integration Studies Centre at the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), said during the presentation of the report “Investment Dynamics in the Eurasian Region: Results and Trends.”
“By the end of the first half of 2025, the volume of Azerbaijani investments in Eurasian countries reached $3.2 billion,” Zaboev noted, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The expert pointed out that Azerbaijan demonstrates very high investment activity both within the region and beyond.
According to the presented report, the main destinations of Azerbaijani investments in Eurasian countries are Ukraine (39%) and Georgia (38%).
“Among the largest projects are the acquisition and modernisation of the Kulevi oil terminal in Georgia, valued at $330 million, and the purchase of SOCAR Georgia Gas distribution networks for $300 million,” Zaboev said.
The head of the centre also emphasised that Russia remains the main regional investor in the Azerbaijani economy (98%). As of the first half of 2025, Russian investments amounted to $4.77 billion, out of a total of $5.4 billion in funds attracted from the region.
