Electronic program developed for Trans-Caspian route transportation
Work is underway to expand the digitalization of cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route within the framework of the International Road Transport System (TIR).
The statement came from Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) for TIR Konstantinos Alexopoulos during a multilateral meeting on the project of simplifying the transit customs procedure using the principle of "one window" on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, Report informs.
"Azerbaijan, Georgia and Uzbekistan have provided electronic connectivity for transportation via the TIR system, and in Türkiye, it is planned to be completed in June this year. An electronic system has been created to facilitate import-export operations along the corridor. The E-TIR electronic program will be launched in July this year. The system will first be tested in Geneva, and then it will become available to the countries of the corridor. The program is based on the standards of the World Customs Organisation," Alexopoulos said.
