Embassy: Germany hails all actions contributing to Baku-Yerevan peace process

The German Embassy in Azerbaijan welcomes all actions contributing to further peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The German diplomatic mission has made the remarks while commenting on Azerbaijan's humanistic decision to drop criminal prosecution of Armenian football players detained at the Lachin checkpoint, Report informs.

"We are closely following the developments between Azerbaijan and Armenia and welcome all actions aimed at de-escalation and contributing to further peace process," the embassy said.

On August 28, Armenian football players, who had been detained at the Lachin border checkpoint, were arrested on the fact of committing insulting actions against the Azerbaijani state flag. However, later applying the principle of humanity, Azerbaijan dropped the criminal charges against them.

The athletes were put under administrative arrest for a period of 10 days. After the execution of the court decision, the deportation of these persons from Azerbaijan will be ensured, the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office said.
