Erdoğan says Palestine recognition to boost two-state solution
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has stated that decisions to recognise the Palestinian state will give new momentum to the implementation of the two-state solution, Anadolu Agency reports.
He made the remarks during a press conference at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport ahead of his departure to the United States to attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
Erdoğan highlighted that a key feature of this year’s General Assembly session is that many countries are recognising the Palestinian state.
The Turkish President also commented on Syria’s participation in UN proceedings. “We will not leave Syria alone and will do everything possible to ensure it becomes stronger every day,” he said, assuring support for the country.
Erdoğan added that he would have the opportunity to meet with Syrian President Ash-Sharaa at the Turkish House in the U.S. on the sidelines of the General Assembly session.
“We will not leave Syria on its own,” the Turkish leader emphasised.
