Erdogan: Türkiye intends to send grain to Africa
Türkiye is determined to send grain and flour to African countries through the Black Sea Grain Corridor.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made the remarks during a speech at an event in Antalya province, Anadolu reports.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin told me: 'We will provide you with grain for free, and you will deliver it to poor African countries. We answered: 'Good. We will accept grain for free from you, we will grind it into flour at the enterprises of Türkiye and send it to the poor countries of Africa.' We have agreed," Erdogan said.
"We are determined to send these products to African countries through the grain corridor and will make all necessary efforts for this," he added.
The head of state also noted that 44 per cent of Ukrainian grain is sent to Europe.
Touching upon the topic of the war in Ukraine, President Erdogan stressed that Türkiye is contributing to the search for a settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, unlike those who "assist arms dealers".
"Türkiye is making efforts to achieve world peace. On the same day, I held talks with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. We are making efforts to reconcile them. We continue to sincerely follow this path in the name of world peace," he said.
