Gas pipeline explosion in Russia’s Omsk region causes disruption to industrial supply
An accident on a major gas pipeline near Omsk, Russia, has led to a temporary disruption in gas supplies to several industrial enterprises in the region, Vitaly Khotsenko, the governor of Omsk, said.
In a post his Telegram channel, the governor noted that boiler rooms in the area are being supplied with gas through backup pipelines, and additional fuels have been stockpiled at these facilities to ensure continued operation. However, some industrial plants have been disconnected from the main gas supply, Caliber.Az reports.
Khotsenko assured residents and businesses that efforts to restore the gas supply on a permanent basis are underway, with Gazprom experts estimating that full restoration would take up to 24 hours. Emergency teams have been mobilised to manage the situation.
The incident occurred early on the morning of November 18, when a gas fire broke out near the village of Rostovka during repair work on an above-ground section of the pipeline. The fire was quickly brought under control, with no reported casualties, according to the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB). Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact cause of the blaze, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
