Russia proposes using drones to monitor citizens
The Russian Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography (Rosreestr) has announced plans to monitor citizens using drones and satellites.
The agency intends to track land plots with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles, planes, helicopters, and spacecraft, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Rosreestr has proposed amendments to the Code of Administrative Offences to allow authorities to open cases based on such data.
The draft legislation also suggests a sharp increase in fines for failing to comply with regulatory instructions.
Currently ranging from 200–300 roubles (approximately $2.40–$3.60), fines for individuals could rise to between 10,000 and 20,000 roubles (approximately $120–$240). Landowners would be notified of cases via registered mail or email.
If approved, the amendments could come into force on January 1, 2027.
