EU rep: Burning of Azerbaijani flag in Yerevan - extremely regrettable incident

Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko has said that burning of the Azerbaijani flag in Yerevan is an extremely regrettable incident.

According to him, sporting events are an opportunity to unite around common values, such as mutual respect and understanding, and bring people together despite differences, Report informs.

"The EU will continue to work to maintain peace and stability in the South Caucasus," he said.

On April 14, the flag of Azerbaijan was burned at the opening ceremony of the European Weightlifting Championship in the Armenian capital Yerevan.
