EU to allocate 8 million euros for mine clearance in Azerbaijan

The European Union and EU countries are among the largest international donors supporting demining in Azerbaijan.

Peter Mikhalko, Head of EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, wrote about it on his Twitter page, Caliber.Az reports.

"International Day for Mine Awareness & Assistance in Mine Action: We deplore all victims of landmines worldwide, including in Azerbaijan. The EU& EU Member States are the biggest international donors for demining in Azerbaijan with around EUR 8 million.  We will continue this support for demining, including by providing expert advice, and assistance to conflict-affected populations, rehabilitation and reconstruction. The EU is firmly committed to building sustainable peace in the region" the envoy tweeted.
