Euronews: Baku enters final gear for WUF13 VIDEO
Final preparations are underway in Azerbaijan’s capital as Baku prepares to host the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13), with authorities stepping up efforts across infrastructure, security, and visitor services in the lead-up to the global gathering, according to an Euronews report.
Organisers expect more than 28,000 participants and around 1,000 media representatives to attend the forum, which will feature 40 main sessions and approximately 350 partner-led events focused on sustainable urban development and future city planning.
At the centre of preparations is the transformation of Baku’s Olympic Stadium into a large-scale conference venue capable of accommodating the forum’s main programme. Transport authorities are also expanding dedicated bus lanes and increasing electric vehicle fleets in an effort to improve mobility and reduce congestion during the event.
Security arrangements are being stepped up, with police deploying enhanced safety protocols and digital monitoring systems across key venues and transport corridors.
Alongside logistical preparations, tourism authorities are finalising curated visitor programmes designed to showcase Azerbaijan’s cultural and historical landmarks, reflecting an effort to position the country as both host and destination during the forum.
