European Commisioner for Energy lauds Azerbaijan as proven EU energy partner
Azerbaijan is a proven partner of the European Union in the energy sector and there is great potential for expanding cooperation in this field, said European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson.
She made the remarks at the 10th ministerial meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 2nd ministerial meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council, Report informs.
In Simson's view, it is increasingly clear that there will be no return to "business as usual" in Europe's relations with Russia. Referring to relations with Azerbaijan, she said, "This space is now filled with loyal partners, and we have found just such a partner".
"I came here for my first meeting in 2022, and then we discussed how to better realise the potential of our relations. Gas supplies to Europe through the Southern Gas Corridor are now 46 per cent higher than in 2021. As I said last year, you [Azerbaijan] are really becoming a European player, so we are working to expand this joint supply system," she said.
