Expert: Armenia to lose territory in exchange for Western financial pledges

04 April 2024 13:13

Vahe Hovhannisyan, a member of the Alternative Projects group, has written an article published in Armenian media about the meeting scheduled for April 5, Caliber.Az reports.

He believes the Armenian people are waiting in anticipation for this meeting without fully understanding its objective or who its participants are. Hovhannisyan states that Armenia has become a testing ground for the world's powerful players, and the Armenian people are likely to see and feel the consequences of this.

Statements by the Russian Foreign Ministry and the US State Department have confirmed that Armenia has found itself at the centre of the conflict between the West and Russia, which will significantly impact the Armenian people. On April 5, the Armenian people will be offered Western incentives in exchange for freezing relations with Russia and Iran. These incentives will be promised to them as a reward for waiting, but the losses can be subjective and costly.

Hovhannisyan warns that the Armenian people may be paying with parts of their land and new victims in exchange for Western "carrots" and money. He further adds that the society waiting for April 5 is no longer able to realise that in exchange for waiting for food and money, they may lose parts of the Motherland. Before the meeting, Blinken called Aliyev and assured him that only economic issues would be discussed. The Armenian people should be aware of the potential long-term consequences of this meeting and the decisions made during it.
