Ferrari eyes strong finish as Azerbaijani Grand Prix approaches
With this season's Azerbaijani Grand Prix being only a few days away, the Ferrari team principal has revealed what he will be looking out for during one of the F1 fans' favourite races of the calendar.
Ferrari's Frédéric Vasseur believes the annual city race in Baku is always unpredictable and full of opportunities, Caliber.Az reports citing FormulaPassion.
“The weekend in Baku is always challenging, as the circuit combines long straights with a technically demanding middle sector. The races are unpredictable and full of opportunities, so it’s important to do everything perfectly and focus on ourselves in order to make the most of our chances,” the leader of the legendary Italian F1 team said.
Vasseur revealed that Ferrari is working hard in preparation for the upcoming race in Baku.
“We understand that on street circuits, every detail can make a difference. Our goal is to bring everything together and achieve a strong result with both drivers,” Vasseur said, speaking about pilots Charles Leclerc and the team's latest addition, seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton, fresh off from rivalling Mercedes.
The article recalls that Leclerc has claimed pole position at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix for the past four years, though unfortunately did not complete the race in that spot.
In the current Constructors’ Championship, in which teams rival each other according to total scores, Ferrari sits in second place (280 points), behind McLaren (617). At the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, McLaren could seal the title if it outscores Ferrari by nine points while ensuring Mercedes does not gain more than 12.
In the drivers’ standings, Leclerc is in fifth place (163 points), while teammate Hamilton holds sixth position (117).
The F1 paddock heads to Baku for the weekend of September 19-21, coming out fresh from the Italian race in Monza.
