First Assembly of Turkic World Insurance Union kicks off in Shusha
The first Assembly of the Turkic World Insurance Union has officially begun in Shusha, Azerbaijan.
The event is held with strategic support from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan and organised by the Public Association “Azerbaijan Insurers’ Association” with the participation of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Government officials, financial regulators, and representatives of insurance associations from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Hungary, Turkmenistan, and Northern Cyprus, as well as OTS leadership, are attending the assembly.
During the event, participants plan to sign a “Proclamation” on reorganising the Union of Insurance Organizations of the Turkic World based on the goals and principles of the OTS.
The Union was founded on May 24, 2022, in Istanbul through a joint initiative of the insurance associations of Azerbaijan and Türkiye. It initially included associations from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan. Later, associations from Hungary, Turkmenistan, and Northern Cyprus joined as observers.
The first Assembly is being held in Azerbaijan following the organisation’s “Roadmap” and in alphabetical order of member states.
