FM: Azerbaijan attaches great importance to development of ties with Germany

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has said that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of relations with Germany.

He made the remarks at a joint press conference with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock in Baku on November 4, Report informs.

Bayramov noted that President Ilham Aliyev visited Germany twice this year: "Mutual visits and meetings with several other colleagues were held".

The minister noted that more than 200 German companies operate in Azerbaijan.

In addition, during the extended meeting between the ministers, an exchange of views took place on issues on the agenda of the current cooperation between the two countries, as well as on regional and international security issues, Caliber.Az reports with reference to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

The meeting brought to attention the current regional situation and realities in the post-conflict period, large-scale reconstruction and construction work carried out in the liberated territories, the mine threat hindering this activity, the efforts of our country towards normalization and promotion of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, current calls in this direction.

The anti-terrorist measures implemented in the Karabakh region on September 19-20 of this year are directed against the threat from the illegal Armenian armed forces, which our country has constantly brought to the attention of the international community. As a result of the measures taken, the scale of the terrible militarization in our sovereign territories has become obvious.

As representatives of international organizations who visited the region for the first time in the last 30 years confirmed, there were no facts of violence against civilians, and the reason for the voluntary departure of the Armenian residents of the region was the propaganda carried out by the illegal regime in our territories about the impossibility of the coexistence of Azerbaijanis and Armenians. In addition, the results of the meetings between representatives of the Azerbaijani government and representatives of the Armenian residents of the region were not brought to them.

In this direction, it was stressed that the responsibility for the departure of Armenian residents lies not with Azerbaijan, but with Armenia, which makes unstable statements.

Despite all this, it was noted that the unfair position recently demonstrated against our country is regrettable and surprising, and also noted the unacceptability of a selective approach to the basic principles of international law, in particular, territorial integrity, sovereignty.

Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
