Azerbaijan showcases climate, urban resilience achievements at UN panel

Gulshan Rzayeva, Deputy Head of the Office of Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, addressed a UN General Assembly panel discussion dedicated to urban resilience in the face of climate change, natural disasters, and environmental challenges.

During her remarks, Rzayeva highlighted that Azerbaijan’s hosting of COP29 and WUF13 demonstrated the country’s consistent efforts to strengthen the connection between climate action and urban development agendas, Caliber.Az reports, citing a post by the State Committee on X.

She further stressed that one of the major achievements of COP29 was the establishment of the Baku Continuity Coalition, an initiative launched by Azerbaijan, Brazil, Egypt, and the UAE, alongside the introduction of the Multisectoral Actions Pathways to Resilient and Healthy Cities (MAP) initiative.

Rzayeva noted that Azerbaijan remains committed to sharing its expertise in aligning climate and urban development policies with international partners and expanding cooperation in this field.
