Former Istanbul mayor faces indictment covering 142 alleged crimes photo
The review of the indictment in the investigation into alleged corruption in the Istanbul municipality has been completed.
According to Turkish media, Istanbul Chief Prosecutor Akın Gürlek announced this development.
In the indictment, Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was removed from his position as Istanbul mayor, is described as the “founder and leader of the organisation.”

The document also states that İmamoğlu is being held accountable for 142 separate crimes. The prosecution has requested a prison sentence ranging from 828 years and 2 months to 2,352 years.
The prosecution claims that during İmamoğlu’s 10 years in office, the state suffered material damages estimated at approximately 160 billion Turkish lira ($3.7 billion).
The 3,900-page document mentions the names of several well-known figures. In total, 402 individuals have been questioned as suspects in the case.
