Four EU nations ask European Commission to secure gas supplies from Azerbaijan
Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Slovakia applied to the European Commission with a request to allocate funds for infrastructure development for Azerbaijani gas supplies to Europe.
The matter concerns infrastructure development, construction of new interconnectors and increasing the capacity of existing ones, Report informs quoting to Hungarian mass media.
The relevant statement was made by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov in Budapest.
"Together with Bulgarians, Romanians and Slovaks, we appealed to the European Commission to address this issue as a priority and provide financial support for the development of infrastructure in the region needed to include an increased amount of Azerbaijani gas via the route through Türkiye, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia in the energy security of southern and central Europe," Szijjártó said.
