Four killed, 34 injured in multi-vehicle crash in western Türkiye
At least four people, including two children, were killed and 34 others injured in a multi-vehicle collision in western Türkiye late on May 3, authorities said.
The crash involved a passenger bus and six other vehicles on the Uşak–Izmir highway near the town of Urunkoy in Ushak Province, according to state broadcaster TRT Haber.
Emergency services, including ambulances, police, and gendarmerie units, were dispatched to the scene following the collision, which occurred at around 10:20 p.m. local time.
Ushak Governor Serdar Kartal confirmed the casualties, stating that 20 of the injured were taken to Ushak Education and Research Hospital, while 14 others were treated at private medical facilities in the region.
“Today, around 10:20 p.m., a traffic accident involving seven vehicles occurred on the road toward Izmir. We have lost four of our citizens. Thirty-four people were hospitalised with injuries: 20 at the Ushak Education and Research Centre Hospital, and 14 at various private hospitals in our region. I pray for God’s mercy upon the deceased and a speedy recovery for the injured. Among the deceased are two children—one year old and six years old. They died alongside their parents,” Kartal said.
Authorities have not yet provided details on the cause of the crash, and an investigation is ongoing.
