From Italy to Tunisia: Azerbaijan's top oil export destinations
In the period from January to May 2024, Azerbaijan's oil exports showed significant trends across various global markets, Caliber.Az highlights the report from the State Customs Committee.
Azerbaijan exported the highest volume of oil to Italy during this period, amounting to 3,947,343.52 tonnes, which marked a 14.1% decline compared to the same period last year. The total export value to Italy also decreased by 11.3%, totalling $2,520,145.37 thousand.
Israel secured the second position by importing 1,444,917.71 tonnes of Azerbaijani oil, marking a notable 41.4% increase in volume and a corresponding 43.1% increase in value, totalling $903,392.92 thousand.
India ranked third, importing 891,896.27 tonnes of oil, which represented a 13.2% decrease in volume and a 7% decrease in value, totalling $567,774.74 thousand.
The remaining countries in the top ten include Kazakhstan with 833,850 tonnes valued at $225,407.22 thousand, Romania with 344,418.52 tonnes valued at $212,236.45 thousand, Thailand with 327,013.52 tonnes valued at $203,153.46 thousand, and Tunisia with 256,640.09 tonnes valued at $163,897.06 thousand.
Overall, Azerbaijan exported 9,869,672.49 tonnes of oil to 20 countries from January to May 2024, marking a 16% decrease in volume and a 13.3% decrease in value compared to the same period last year, amounting to $6,258,631.31 thousand according to the State Customs Committee.
