GECF chief underscores Azerbaijan’s expanding influence in gas markets

Azerbaijan is making a significant contribution to dialogue among gas-exporting nations, according to the Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), Philip Mshelbila.

Speaking at Baku Energy Week on June 1, 2026, Mshelbila said Azerbaijan’s role within the forum is highly valued, reflecting its position as one of the leading exporters of natural gas, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

He noted that the country plays an active part in fostering dialogue between producer states and strengthening cooperation within the organisation.

Mshelbila also expressed the GECF’s readiness to deepen engagement with Azerbaijan, pointing to the country’s expanding influence in both regional and international gas markets.
