Georgia’s president set for first official visit to Türkiye
President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, is set to arrive in Türkiye for an official visit from August 12 to 13 following an invitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
According to Caliber.Az, citing the Directorate of Communications of the Republic of Türkiye in Ankara, this will mark the first-ever visit by a Georgian head of state to Türkiye.

During the talks, both leaders are expected to discuss pressing regional and international issues, alongside prospects for deepening cooperation in political, economic, and other sectors.
Mikheil Kavelašvili was elected President of Georgia in the 2024 presidential election, securing 56.8% of the vote in the second round against his main rival.
Running as an independent candidate with backing from a range of political forces, he centred his campaign on national unity, democratic consolidation, and strengthening Georgia’s engagement with European and regional partners.
Voter turnout reached 64%, reflecting strong public interest in the outcome. His victory was interpreted as a mandate to pursue stability, institutional reforms, and balanced foreign policy priorities.
