Georgia targets 2026 for finalising Middle Corridor roads linking Azerbaijan, Armenia with Türkiye
The Georgian government plans to fully complete the construction of roads connecting Azerbaijan and Armenia with Türkiye by 2026 as part of the Middle Corridor project, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
The Middle Corridor is a transport route running from China through Kazakhstan, across the Caspian Sea, through Azerbaijan and Georgia, into Türkiye, and onward to European countries.
According to government plans outlined in the 2026 budget, construction will be completed on the Rustavi–Red Bridge and Algeti–Sadakhlo sections, which lead to the borders with Armenia and Azerbaijan, while the Batumi–Sarpi road connecting to the Turkish border will also be built.
“The implementation of these projects will complete the construction of Middle Corridor sections linking Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Türkiye,” the document states.
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route was established in February 2014 with the participation of leading maritime and railway companies from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Georgia.
