Georgian MPs from ruling and opposition parties clash in parliament VIDEO
A scuffle between MPs disrupted a plenary session of the Georgian parliament as deputies made political statements regarding the controversial "On Transparency of Foreign Influence" law, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.
The altercation began with a verbal clash between members of the ruling Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia party and the opposition. It started when ruling party MP Dito Samkharadze interrupted National Movement MP Levan Khabeishvili's speech with shouted remarks, which escalated to insults. Opposition MPs responded, leading to a mutual exchange of verbal abuse.
The confrontation intensified when Samkharadze circled the conference hall and threw a bottle at the opposition, sparking a physical fight involving both male and female MPs from both sides.
The order has since been restored, and parliament has resumed its work. After the political statements, MPs are set to proceed to the third reading of the draft Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence.
