FM: Armenia advances TRIPP project with US, construction set for 2026
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that work with the United States on the TRIPP project (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) is proceeding intensively and construction on the ground is expected to begin in the second half of 2026.
Speaking on Public Television, Mirzoyan expressed hope that the first document would be ready in the coming weeks and noted that the next year would be full of visits from Armenia’s international partners, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Addressing concerns that Russia and Iran oppose the “Trump Route” (TRIPP), Mirzoyan noted that infrastructure unblocking raised questions in Iran. “Our Iranian colleagues asked questions, we provided answers, and now both we and Iran see opportunities in unblocking the infrastructure,” he concluded.
Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), also known as the Zangezur Corridor, is a major regional infrastructure project aimed at linking mainland Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave via Armenia’s Syunik (Zangezur) region.
The project was formalised on August 8, 2025, in Washington through a declaration signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, together with US President Donald Trump.
The initiative is intended both as a peace-building tool and a strategic logistics corridor. It includes plans for new railways and roads, oil and gas pipelines, fibre-optic networks, and electricity transmission lines. Its broader goal is to connect South Caucasus countries to the “Middle Corridor” trade route between Europe and Asia, boosting regional transit capacity, trade, and economic diversification.
