Security emerges as top concern for Armenians, survey finds
A recent survey indicates that security is the foremost concern for nearly 40 percent of Armenian citizens, reflecting growing public anxiety over safety issues in the country.
The survey was conducted by MPG/Gallup International Association, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The findings reveal that 37.1 percent of respondents are worried about their personal security. Economic issues also featured prominently, with 23.4 percent citing low wages and pensions, and 13.8 percent highlighting broader economic challenges. Unemployment and inflation were concerns for 13.3 percent and 12 percent of respondents, respectively.
Other key issues identified in the survey include the state of education (11.3 percent), border demarcation (9.8 percent), and healthcare (8.6 percent). Social welfare and poverty were noted by 5.3 percent, while air pollution concerned 5.1 percent of respondents. Tensions between the authorities and the church were cited by 4.7 percent, and 3 percent mentioned the return of Armenian military criminals from Baku.
Smaller but notable concerns included a lack of social solidarity, public transport, high utility costs, and foreign policy (each 2.7 percent). The “Artsakh issue” was cited by 2.5 percent, while corruption and high taxes were each mentioned by 2 percent. Thirteen percent of respondents pointed to other issues as their primary concern, and 6.2 percent were unsure or declined to answer.
The telephone survey, conducted between December 24 and 27, 2025, included 1,000 respondents across Armenia.
