Georgia secures favorable gas deal with Azerbaijan, PM says

26 June 2026 14:07

The Georgian government has secured guarantees from Azerbaijan for the supply of more than 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas at a favourable price following bilateral negotiations, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has stated.

While presenting the government's annual report to parliament, he said gasification projects continued across the country during the reporting period, with more than 60 settlements connected to the gas distribution network and, as a result, around 10,000 households gained access to natural gas, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

Kobakhidze stressed that negotiations with Azerbaijan on the strategically important issue of gas supplies had concluded successfully.

“We held extremely important negotiations with our friendly country, Azerbaijan, on gas supplies, which are of fundamental importance to our country. As a result, we secured a guarantee for the supply of more than 2 billion cubic meters of gas at a favorable price,” he noted.

The prime minister emphasised that the agreement would make a significant contribution to strengthening Georgia’s energy security.
