German energy company: Azerbaijan remains Europe’s core energy partner
Azerbaijan continues to be one of Europe’s most important and reliable energy partners, contributing significantly to the continent’s energy security and diversification of gas supply routes, Ulf Heitmüller, CEO of German energy company VNG AG, said.
At Baku Energy Week, he noted that reliable energy partners are becoming especially important in the current geopolitical environment, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
"We highly appreciate Azerbaijan's contribution to ensuring energy security. Supplies of Azerbaijani gas to Europe play an important role in diversifying Europe's energy sources," Heitmüller said.
Heitmüller further underlined that Germany intends to deepen and expand its strategic cooperation with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, SOCAR.
He noted that the partnership between the two sides is developing rapidly and is expected to grow further in scope in the coming years, with a focus on building a long-term, stable strategic framework.
CEO added that Germany is continuing efforts to diversify its gas supply sources to strengthen energy security, underlining the importance of reliable suppliers and long-term cooperation.
VNG AG is a German energy company headquartered in Leipzig, active across the natural gas value chain, including sourcing, trading, transport, and storage within European markets.
In recent years, VNG has been transitioning toward a broader low-carbon energy portfolio, with a strategic focus on hydrogen development and decarbonization initiatives aligned with Europe’s energy transition goals.
