German, Spanish, French air forces conduct joint drills with Japan
A collaborative air force exercise involving Germany, Spain, and France is currently underway in Japan, marking a significant multinational military training operation.
According to the Nikkei newspaper, the drills are being conducted at two key locations: the Chitose Air Base on Hokkaido Island and the Hyakuri Air Base, located 120 kilometres northeast of Tokyo, Caliber.Az reports, citing Japanese media.
The exercise features a diverse array of aircraft, with 12 Eurofighter Typhoon fighters from the German and Spanish Air Forces, alongside four Rafale combat aircraft from the French Air Force. Japan's contribution includes six F-15 and F-2 combat aircraft. This exercise represents a notable first, showcasing a unique formation of air forces from these four nations.
Prior to this operation in Japan, the participating aircraft from Germany, Spain, and France conducted training exercises with US aircraft in the Alaska region. Following the drills in Japan, the multinational team is scheduled to continue their training with upcoming exercises in Hawaii, before moving on to further collaborative operations in Australia and New Zealand.
This series of exercises highlight the strengthening of international military cooperation and joint operational capabilities among the participating nations, reflecting an ongoing commitment to enhancing air defence and strategic partnerships.
