Global Media Forum participants enjoy picturesque landscape of Shusha
Participants in the Shusha Global Media Forum "New Media in the Era of the 4th Industrial Revolution", which is being held to mark the 148th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press, have viewed the sights and nature of Shusha city.
The guests first saw the fortress walls. Here they were told about the history of the city and the construction of fortress walls. The fortress, built by the ruler of Karabakh Khanate Panahali-khan, protected the city from foreign invaders for a long time and was a symbol of impregnability, Report says.
During the occupation period, these walls were vandalised by Armenians. After the liberation of Shusha from occupation, repair, and restoration works were carried out in the fortress.
The guests also visited the central square of the city, where “Shot Monuments" of famous Azerbaijani figures Natavan, Bulbul, and Uzeyir Hajibayli were installed. An employee of the Shusha State Reserve Department presented detailed information about Shusha and the monuments riddled with bullets to the guests. It was reported that during the occupation, Armenians wanted to take them to Armenia and melt them down. On the initiative of great leader Heydar Aliyev, the monuments were brought to Azerbaijan and kept in the yard of the Art Museum in Baku. After the liberation of the city from occupation, the monuments were returned to their former places.
The guests also visited the house of Khurshidbanu Natavan, the spring of Khan's Daughter, the Ganja Gate of Shusha Fortress, Yukhari Govharaga Mosque, Mehmandarovs' estate complex, and the Gazanchi Church. During the tour, information was also given about the damage caused to Azerbaijani cultural monuments by Armenians during the occupation, as well as about the falsification of Azerbaijani ancient artifacts.
It was emphasised that after the liberation of the city of Shusha from the occupation, large-scale reconstruction works were kicked off there. Besides the construction of infrastructure, restoration of the original appearance of the city, historical and cultural monuments have been started.
In the end, the guests arrived at the Jidir Plain, from where a picturesque landscape opens up. According to the forum participants, the trip left them with indelible impressions.
