Azerbaijan introduces 50% agricultural subsidies for “Great Return” resettlers
Citizens resettled under Azerbaijan’s “Great Return” program will now receive subsidies covering 50% of their agricultural production, the Ministry of Agriculture announced, citing a recent decision by the Agrarian Subsidies Council.
According to the ministry, under the “Rules on the Provision of Agricultural Lands in the Territories of Azerbaijan Liberated from Occupation to Residents of Villages and Settlements on Preferential Terms”, residents who have returned to liberated villages and settlements will benefit from a 50% increase in the sowing coefficient and crop subsidies, including for annual crops and clover sowing, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The move comes as part of Azerbaijan’s broader effort to support the revitalisation of areas regained after the end of the occupation in November 2020.
Following the restoration of territorial integrity, the government launched the Great Return program to facilitate the safe and dignified return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their ancestral lands.
The program’s first phase, running through 2026, aims to resettle 140,000 IDPs across 100 settlements, with the long-term goal of full restoration of all liberated territories by 2040.
