Azerbaijan plans new blood bank branches in liberated territories
Azerbaijan plans to establish regional branches of the Republican Blood Bank in two of its liberated territories as part of efforts to expand blood services and improve healthcare infrastructure, a senior Health Ministry official said on June 13.
Speaking at an event marking World Blood Donor Day, Ramig Guliyev, head of a department at the Ministry of Health, said the country currently operates eight regional branches of the Republican Blood Bank. He noted that preparations are underway to open additional branches in two liberated economic regions in the near future, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Guliyev said that in July 2024, authorities adopted a series of decisions aimed at developing the blood service sector and enhancing the quality of blood-related healthcare services across the country.
According to him, key priorities include strengthening the legislative framework governing blood services and encouraging voluntary, unpaid blood donation.
Highlighting the significance of World Blood Donor Day, Guliyev stressed the vital role of blood donors in saving lives and raising public awareness about the importance of regular blood donations.
“A single blood donation can save the life of one or more people,” he said.
