“Our exceptional fraternal ties and strategic partnership entered a new and historic phase five years ago today with the signing of the Shusha Declaration. Building on the goals and shared vision for the future outlined in the Shusha Declaration, we will resolutely continue to strengthen and develop our cooperation with dear Azerbaijan in all areas,” the post reads.
The Shusha Declaration, one of the key political documents underpinning the alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, marks its fifth anniversary on June 15. It was signed on June 15, 2021, in the city of Shusha, Azerbaijan’s cultural capital, by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The document represents not only the political will of the two states but also a strategic roadmap aimed at ensuring peace, security, and long-term regional cooperation.
Over the five years since its signing, the principles outlined in the Shusha Declaration have been translated into practical outcomes, including expanded cooperation in the defence industry, increased joint military exercises, development of energy and transport projects, coordinated action in international organisations, and mutual political support.
The Shusha Declaration continues to serve as a foundational legal framework for Azerbaijan–Türkiye relations and is widely regarded as a key pillar shaping a new regional environment of cooperation, stability, and development.
