Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Türkiye's Zero Waste Foundation collaborate for COP29 pavilion
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in partnership with Türkiye’s Zero Waste Foundation, will unveil a joint pavilion at the Solidarity Hub during COP29, set to take place from November 11 to 22.
This cooperation aims to promote sustainability and social development at the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Located in the Green Zone of COP29, the pavilion will serve as a gathering space for a diverse range of stakeholders, including representatives from the public and private sectors, NGOs, media, and officials from the Blue Zone.
Both foundations are dedicated to creating sustainable solutions across various societal sectors. Their joint initiative at COP29 will showcase their commitment to environmental and social responsibility. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation will highlight its environmental protection projects, which encompass educational, medical, social, and cultural initiatives that have garnered public support.
The pavilion will feature an interactive zone focused on projects in education, health, and social services. Meanwhile, the Zero Waste Foundation will present its initiatives aimed at enhancing resource efficiency, waste management, recycling, and environmental awareness, alongside innovative solutions designed to address pressing environmental challenges.
The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will take place in Azerbaijan this November. This decision was made during the COP28 plenary session in Dubai on December 11, 2023. Baku is expected to welcome approximately 70,000 to 80,000 international attendees over the two-week event.
The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992, aims to prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system. The COP, or “Conference of the Parties,” is the highest decision-making body responsible for overseeing the implementation of the UNFCCC, which has 198 member states. Unless otherwise decided, the COP convenes annually; the first COP was held in Berlin in March 1995, with its secretariat based in Bonn.
