Hungary eyes cooperation with Azerbaijan on green energy
Hungary is interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan in the restoration of its liberated territories and in the development of green energy projects.
The issues were discussed during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Hungary’s Ambassador to Baku, Tamás József Tormá, Caliber.Az reports per the Energy Ministry.
According to the ministry, both sides underlined the strategic role of energy in advancing bilateral relations. It was noted that Azerbaijan contributes to Hungary’s energy security and supports the diversification of its energy supplies, particularly through natural gas exports.
The parties expressed satisfaction with ongoing cooperation in gas deliveries and highlighted the involvement of Hungarian companies MOL Group and MVM in Azerbaijan’s oil and gas sector. MVM’s accession to the joint venture for the construction of the Shafag solar power plant was described as a significant step toward broadening energy partnership between the two countries.
The meeting also covered progress on the Caspian–Black Sea–Europe Green Energy Corridor project, aimed at transmitting renewable electricity from the Caspian region to Europe. In addition, the sides discussed preparations for upcoming meetings of the ministerial Advisory Councils on the Southern Gas Corridor and on Green Energy.
