Inflation in Azerbaijan stands at 0.1% in May 2026
Inflation in Azerbaijan reached 0.1% in May 2026 compared to the previous month, according to data from the State Statistics Committee, as reported by Caliber.Az.
On a year-on-year basis, consumer prices increased by 5.6% compared to May 2025.
According to statistics, in May of this year, the consumer price index for food products, beverages, and tobacco products compared to April stood at 99.9% (May 2025 – 106.6%), for non-food products – 100.1% (103.9%), and for paid services – 100.2% (105.7%).
The highest monthly price increase in May was recorded in fruit prices – 1%.
In addition, price increases were recorded for bread and bakery products – 0.2%, meat and meat products – 0.5%, milk and dairy products – 0.4%, butter and vegetable oils – 0.4%, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery – 0.4%, tea, coffee and cocoa – 0.1%, mineral water, soft drinks and juices – 0.8%, and alcoholic beverages – 0.2%.
Prices for tobacco products remained unchanged over the past month.
Meanwhile, a decline in prices in May was recorded for fish and fish products – 0.4%, eggs – 1.8%, and vegetables – 3.1%.
In May 2026, consumer prices for non-food products rose by 0.1% compared to the previous month and by 3.9% compared to the same month of the previous year. In May compared to April, prices mainly increased for paint, plastic pipes, detergents, and personal hygiene products, while prices for jewellery decreased. No significant changes were observed in prices for other non-food products.
As the State Statistics Committee reports, in May 2026, the increase in prices for paid services provided to the population amounted to 0.2% compared to April and 5.7% compared to May of the previous year.
“In May, prices for international passenger air transport increased compared to the previous month. No significant changes were observed in prices for other paid services,” the statement noted.
