International Monetary Fund official witnesses transformation of Karabakh cities
Patryk Loszewski, Executive Director of the Swiss Constituency within the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has visited the cities of Aghdam, Khankendi, and Shusha to review large-scale reconstruction and development efforts in the Karabakh region.
Loszewski was briefed on extensive restoration and reconstruction work underway in Aghdam, a city that was completely destroyed during the period of occupation, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Finance.
The briefing covered the implementation of the city’s master plan, the development of modern infrastructure, and measures being taken to support the phased return of residents under the government’s Great Return program.
During his visit to Khankendi, Loszewski toured the city’s central areas and reviewed key infrastructure facilities, ongoing restoration and reconstruction projects, and the organization of social infrastructure. He was also informed about steps being taken to ensure sustainable living conditions for the local population, the ministry said.
In Shusha, the IMF representative received detailed information on the city’s rich historical and cultural heritage, the restoration of cultural monuments, and the implementation of infrastructure and tourism projects. Officials noted that Shusha, designated as the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, plays a significant role in the region’s social, cultural, and economic life.
