Iran backs peace process between Azerbaijan, Armenia, says Pezeshkian
Iran supports the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, President Masoud Pezeshkian said in his address to the UN General Assembly.
“Iran supports peace and stability. We believe the future of the region and the world will be built on cooperation, trust, and dialogue,” the Iranian leader stated, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
On August 8, US President Donald Trump hosted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the White House for a historic signing ceremony that marked a breakthrough in the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process.
The agreement, described as a joint declaration, outlined steps toward normalising relations between the two nations. A central element of the deal is the establishment of the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP), also called the Zangezur corridor, a 43-kilometre transit corridor through Armenia’s Syunik province, connecting mainland Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave, which borders Türkiye and Iran.
