Iran condemns insult to Jesus Christ at Paris Olympics, defends religious values
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, condemned the insult to Jesus Christ during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
He expressed his disapproval during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Khamenei stated that respect for Jesus Christ is a significant and absolute matter for Muslims, denouncing the portrayal of Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper" with homosexual connotations as a blatant insult to sacred values, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The controversial opening ceremony featured a live artistic tableau resembling "The Last Supper," with participants dressed in drag and a transgender model, which sparked global outrage. Khamenei criticized the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for allowing an event that disrespected the moral and religious values of billions, particularly Christians.
