Iran rolls sanctions against European, UK individuals, entities
The Iranian authorities have imposed sanctions against 15 individuals and 13 legal entities, structures, and organizations from the EU countries, as well as eight individuals from the UK.
According to TASS, the announcement came on February 21 from the Iranian TV channel Al Alam, citing a statement by the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic.
According to the statement, the persons on the sanctions list are accused of “supporting terrorism, terrorist groups and violence directed against the Iranian people, interfering in the internal affairs of the Islamic Republic, calling for violence and unrest in Iran, spreading lies and false information about the country”, as well as involvement in strengthening sanctions pressure on the Iranian people, which Tehran regards as "economic terrorism".
The black list included, among others, the Minister Delegate of France for Equality Isabelle Rome, the Minister Delegate for Industry of France Roland Lescure, the French politician Michel de Vaucouleur, the deputies of the German Bundestag Renata Alt and Roderich Kiesewetter.
Restrictions were also introduced against several European military-industrial companies (among which are the engineering company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH & Co KG, the technology company Quantum-Systems GmbH, the shipbuilding company ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems of Germany, the leading European developer and manufacturer of missile systems MBDA).
The organizations Christians for Israel (Netherlands) and the Center for Documentation and Information about Israel (CIDI, the Netherlands) also fell under the sanctions.
The imposed sanctions imply “blocking of accounts and transactions [for individuals and legal entities included in the sanctions list] in the financial and banking systems of Iran, blocking assets within Iranian jurisdiction, as well as a ban on issuing visas and entering the territory” of the Islamic Republic.
