TURKSOY’s 5th high-level meeting kicks off in Türkiye with Azerbaijan’s active role
The 5th meeting of senior officials from member states of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) has officially commenced in the city of Trabzon, Türkiye.
The event brings together high-ranking representatives tasked with advancing the organization’s cultural and strategic objectives, Caliber.Az reports via Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture.
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Farid Jafarov, is actively participating in the sessions, underscoring Azerbaijan’s continued commitment to fostering Turkic cultural cooperation.
The primary focus of this gathering is the preparation and review of key documents, including comprehensive activity reports and forward-looking strategic plans. These materials are slated for subsequent discussion and approval by the TURKSOY Permanent Council, which oversees the implementation of the organization’s cultural initiatives and policies.
The meeting serves as a critical platform for strengthening multilateral collaboration among Turkic-speaking nations, enhancing cultural exchange, and promoting shared heritage on the international stage.
The International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY), established in 1993 as the inaugural intergovernmental body dedicated to cooperation within the Turkic World, was founded through a landmark agreement signed by the culture ministers of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Türkiye. Since its inception, TÜRKSOY has been steadfastly committed to safeguarding the shared cultural heritage of Turkic peoples, fostering their common cultural values, and amplifying their presence on the global stage.
In the years that followed, the organization expanded its reach to include observer members such as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as well as the Republics of Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Altai, Sakha, Tuva, and Khakassia within the Russian Federation, alongside Gagauzia in Moldova.
TÜRKSOY’s overarching mission centers on reinforcing the bonds of unity and fraternity among Turkic nations, ensuring the transmission of their collective cultural legacy to future generations, and enhancing global recognition of their rich traditions.
Functioning as a crucial platform for the promotion and celebration of the Turkic World’s shared cultural wealth, TÜRKSOY plays an instrumental role in elevating and disseminating this heritage across international arenas.
