Smart manufacturing: Samsung starts building future in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan has officially launched the domestic production of Samsung-branded televisions and washing machines at a new facility in the city of Saran.
The announcement was made by the press service of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Construction, Caliber.Az reports.
The appliances are being assembled at the Silk Road Electronics plant, which now serves as a key regional hub for Samsung’s production in Central Asia.
The newly operational plant will produce Samsung washing machines equipped with SmartThings ecosystem support, alongside high-resolution Smart TVs featuring advanced connectivity and user-interface technology.
The facility boasts a production capacity of up to 150,000 televisions and 200,000 washing machines annually, with initial plans to assemble 10,000 TVs and 25,000 washing machines by the end of the current year.
In an official statement, the ministry emphasized the strategic importance of this industrial development.
"The launch of production for a globally recognized brand in Kazakhstan marks an important milestone in the development of the country’s mechanical engineering sector and contributes to the policy of import substitution and increasing localization."
The initiative aligns with Kazakhstan’s broader industrial policy to attract global technology leaders and foster domestic manufacturing capabilities. By producing complex consumer electronics locally, the country aims to bolster employment, enhance technological expertise, and position itself as a competitive player in regional supply chains.
The collaboration between Samsung and Silk Road Electronics is also expected to promote knowledge transfer, innovation, and further industrial investment in Kazakhstan’s growing electronics sector.
