Iranian president arrives in Minsk for talks with Lukashenko
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has arrived in Minsk on an official visit, where he is scheduled to hold talks with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
According to the Belarus state news agency BelTA, cited by Caliber.Az, Pezeshkian’s aircraft landed at Minsk National Airport, where he was welcomed by Industry Minister and co-chair of the Belarus-Iran economic cooperation commission Andrei Kuznetsov, First Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Lukashevich, Belarus’ Ambassador to Iran Dmitry Koltsov, and the head of the Iranian diplomatic mission Sanei Alireza.
The Belarusian presidential press service announced that Lukashenko will meet with Pezeshkian on August 20 at the Palace of Independence. The talks will take place in both restricted and extended formats, followed by the signing of bilateral agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation.
Discussions are expected to cover trade, investment, industrial partnership, and joint initiatives in science, technology, and education. The two leaders will also exchange views on cooperation within international organizations, including the EAEU, SCO, BRICS, and the UN, as well as regional and global security issues.
Pezeshkian had initially been scheduled to visit Minsk in late June to attend the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council summit. However, the trip was postponed due to the escalation of the conflict with Israel, with his address to the summit delivered via video message.
