Iran says it successfully tested missile with two-ton warhead Photo
Iran’s Defence Minister, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, said the country carried out a successful missile test last week involving a two-ton warhead, calling it a significant boost to national defence capabilities.
“We have made very good progress in defence affairs. Our operational forces are fully equipped,” Caliber.Az quotes Nasirzadeh as saying per Iranian media.
“Our most recent achievement came last week when we successfully tested a missile carrying a two-ton warhead, with excellent results,” he added.
The missile test forms part of Iran’s wider strategy to strengthen its military preparedness amid continued tensions in the region.
According to a Wall Street Journal report earlier this month, Iran has procured large volumes of ammonium perchlorate—a key solid‑rocket propellant—from China (via Hong Kong), enough to produce up to 800 ballistic missiles. These materials may also support allies like the Houthis in Yemen.
Analysts note that since 2017, Iran has carried out hundreds of ballistic and cruise missile launches, targeting areas like Syria, Iraq, Israel, and Saudi Arabia—as part of its ongoing strategic deterrence efforts.
