Iran to impose counter-sanctions against EU, UK
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani warned that on December 12, the Iranian side would impose retaliatory restrictions on several European states in response to the sanctions announced earlier by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
“Today ... we will announce a list of new sanctions against certain institutions associated with the EU and EU officials, as well as sanctions against a number of institutions and UK officials,” Kanaani was quoted as saying by Gazeta.Ru, citing the Iranian media.
He also added that Iran intends to continue to apply preventive measures based on its legal right.
According to Kanaani, the reason for this decision was the unconstructive actions of a number of countries, as well as the European Union.
